Beginning Monday, July 16th, community members in Montrose and Olathe will have a new way to get around town! All Points Transit has installed bicycle racks on all three Montrose buses and on the Olathe shuttle bus. Each rack holds two bikes and they are very simple for passengers to use for loading and unloading bicycles.
From July 16th through the month of August, passengers with bicycles will ride for free on the bus.
“We are excited to welcome new passengers on the City Bus who live too far off route to walk to the closest stop, but can now access the route by bike,” said Sarah Curtis, Mobility Manager at All Points Transit. “We hope that they will take advantage of the free rides and get in the habit of using the system throughout the rest of the summer.”
All Points Transit will demonstrate the racks at the Montrose Area Bicycle Alliance’s upcoming Bike-In-Movie event on July 28th at Rotary Park. The organization also plans to have demonstrations at a Main in Motion event in August.
The bike racks were purchased, in part, with sponsorship from the FOREAlliance. The remainder of the cost was covered by All Points Transit funds reserved for capital improvements. The City of Montrose also supported the project by helping with installation of the racks.
